For the new Institut für Bienenkunde (Bee Studies Institute), we tried to maintain as much landscaping as possible on the plot. The ground surface of the building is basically conceived as a green space and the institute is subordinate to that. The resulting roof garden serves as a training path for the visitors and features beehives and other exhibits. Beneath the roof garden, the institute is located with entrance foyer, library, classrooms, administration and a bee flying hall. The rest of the plot is kept as a green space and used as an institute garden for research and teaching.
