In 2011, the City of Frankfurt along with the Hessen Agentur GmbH created a competition to bring a new housing development to the area that would pay homage to the work of German architect and urban planner Ernst May. As one of ten firms selected to provide design services for the site, 1100 has subsequently been hired to design and build 8 new homes within the development, based on the original competition design. 1100 collaborated with each client to adapt the concept design to meet their specific needs and desires, as well as site and budget requirements while maintaining the strong connection to the outdoors, an abundance of natural light and honoring the desire for privacy.
