The new apartment building with parking garage in the Berlin district of Friedrichshain is located on the back of the property. The project includes as well the refurbishment and and a new rooftop addition to the existing building on the street front. The architecture of the building is characterized by the exposure of the concrete framework, which remains visible in the exterior facade and by a set of wood cladded infill walls and glass. The seven individually designed living units are interlocked into each other in order to supply a balcony facing south for each unit. The design responds to the programmatic requirement of different typologies such as maisonettes or single floor apartments.
