Jurek M. Slapa

Jurek Meinhard Slapa, born in 1942 in Königshütte (Poland), studied architecture at TU Kraków and RWTH Aachen. For around 20 years, he worked for HPP Architekten in Dusseldorf, where he led the competition department for several years. During this time, his responsibilities included the conversion of the Dusseldorf concert hall (1978) and the Olivandenhof in Cologne (1988). In 1987, he was cofounder of the architecture firm JSK Dusseldorf, where he, Zbigniew Pszczulny and Helmut Oberholz were shareholders until 2010. In 2010, the office separated from the JSK Group and proceeded to operate as slapa oberholz pszczulny, sop | architekten. Among Jurek M. Slapa’s most important works in his nearly 50 years as an architect are Frankfurt Airport Terminal 2, Dusseldorf Airport 2000 plus, Hafenspitze at Dusseldorf’s Media Harbour, the Gap 15 high-rise and Stilwerk Dusseldorf.

Helmut Oberholz

Helmut Oberholz, born in 1954 in Heiligenhaus, Germany, received his architecture degree from FH Essen, TU Berlin and RWTH Aachen. He worked as an architect from 1976 to 1987 before becoming a partner at the architecture firm JSK Dusseldorf in 1988. He, Jurek M. Slapa and Zbigniew Pszczulny were shareholders there from 1990 to 2010. During this time, Helmut Oberholz was responsible for the construction of the Hyatt Regency Mainz (1998), the Broker & Office Center Frankfurt (2004) and the north expansion of Messe Dusseldorf (2004-2010), among others. In 2010, the office separated from the JSK Group and proceeded to operate as slapa oberholz pszczulny, sop | architekten. The current references of Helmut Oberholz include the Belmundo and LaVista office and commercial buildings in Dusseldorf’s Belsenpark, the Design Hotel Hyatt Regency Dusseldorf and Neue Messe Essen, which won first prize at an international competition.

Zbigniew Pszczulny

Zbigniew Pszczulny, born in 1953 in Thorn (Poland), received his architecture degree from TU Danzig. After working at Miastoprojekt in Thorn, he was employed for seven years at HPP Architekten in Dusseldorf. In 1988, he became a partner at the architecture firm JSK Dusseldorf, where he, Jurek M. Slapa and Helmut Oberholz were shareholders from 1990 to 2010. His responsibilities at JSK included the planning for Dusseldorf Airport 2000 plus and the Esprit Arena Dusseldorf (2004). In 2010, the office separated from the JSK Group and proceeded to operate as slapa oberholz pszczulny, sop | architekten. Zbigniew Pszczulny is also a shareholder of JSK Architekci in Poland, which he founded in 1998 and which collaborates with sop | architekten. His current international references include the UEFA EURO national stadiums in Warsaw and Wrocław, Copernicus Airport Wrocław, Gdańsk Airport and the Orjin Maslak office tower in Istanbul.

Wolfgang Marcour

Wolfgang Marcour, born in 1960 in Bergisch Gladbach, Germany, studied architecture at RWTH Aachen. After receiving his degree in 1990, he began working at the architecture office JSK Dusseldorf, where he became a project partner and shareholder from 1998 to 2010. His work was essential in the firm earning first prize for Dusseldorf Airport 2000 plus (1997) and in the construction of the Gap 15 high-rise (2005). Since the rebranding of JSK Dusseldorf in 2010, Wolfgang Marcour has been a project partner and shareholder of slapa oberholz pszczulny, sop | architekten. His references include the realisation of the Orjin Maslak office tower in Istanbul, the Dusseldorf Airport Administration building and the new Trivago headquarter currently under construction in Dusseldorf’s Media Harbour.

Lothar Simonis

Lothar Simonis, born in 1954 in Wiesbaden, Germany, completed his architecture studies at FH Wiesbaden. After receiving his degree in 1980, he worked as an architect at firms that included Jo. Franzke, Frankfurt, and KSP Engel & Zimmermann, Frankfurt, where he contributed significantly in his role as project leader for, among other projects, the renovation of Gate A at Frankfurt Airport (1996) and the construction of the new service centre for Nassauische Sparkasse Wiesbaden (1997). In 1998, he began working at the architectural firm JSK Dusseldorf, where he was office director and shareholder from 2002 to 2010. During this time, his work encompassed his role as overall project leader for the construction of Dusseldorf Airport 2000 plus, among others. Since the rebranding of JSK Dusseldorf in 2010, Lothar Simonis has been office director and a shareholder of slapa oberholz pszczulny, sop | architekten.
